_____________________________________________________________________________

Hey there! I’m Rocket, a two-year-old Shiba mix weighing about 20 lbs.

I would love a home with my brother Banner so be sure to check out his bio next!

I’m looking for a home where someone in the family is home a decent amount of time. I don’t like being alone. I’m not your usual Shiba and crave time with my humans!

I love to play, go for walks, and try to chase after the squirrels and bunnies that are outside. I’m a smart boy and know a couple commands. I can’t wait to learn even more with my new family!

I sleep well in a crate but am ready to start my day once I notice my human is awake! When foster mom has to leave during the day she puts me behind a gate in the kitchen. I bark a bit at first to let everyone know I miss mom but then I settle down until she comes back. But she can’t be gone too, too long before I show my displeasure.

I can’t wait to find my new family who will take me on walks, do some training with me and let me cuddle with them.

  • Currently is being fostered near Chicago, IL

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Rocket, please follow the instructions above, starting with emailing his personal secretary at adoptions@shibarescue.org with any applicable vet records for you current pets, and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!

For general adoption questions, please check the website here: shibarescue.org/adoption-process

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
