Hello! I’m Sky an 8-month-old Shiba weighing about 27 pounds.
I’m looking for a forever family that has a house with a yard! I’m used to playing in the yard on a long leash so a fence isn’t necessary but would be a great bonus! I like to make my presence known at home with my voice so apartment/condo life wouldn’t be best for me.
I think I would do best as an only pet so I don’t have to compete for my family’s attention. I love people more than other animals. I also really love playing with toys! I hang out in my crate when I’m left alone. It’s not my favorite place to be but I settle down after a little bit.
I am a bit quirky and don’t love men so I would love to find a woman to be my forever momma. It would also be helpful if they’re home more often than not as I really don’t love being alone. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can play with toys, go for walks, maybe play in a yard and eat yummy treats!
Currently is being fostered near Chicago, IL
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Sky, please follow the instructions above, starting with emailing his personal secretary at adoptions@shibarescue.org with any applicable vet records for you current pets, and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!
For general adoption questions, please check the website here: shibarescue.org/adoption-process
AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about. Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you. You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process. The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.
NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
