Hello! I’m Sky, a shiba puppy born in October 2025. I weight about 27 pounds.
I’m looking for a forever family that has a house with a yard! I’m used to playing in the yard on a long leash so a fence isn’t necessary but would be a great bonus! Apartment living is possible for me, but I cry a lot when in the kennel. Other than that, I am ok noise wise once I’ve adjusted to my space.
I would do best as an only pet (no other dogs or cats) so I don’t have to compete for my family’s attention. I love people more than other animals. I also really love playing with toys!
It would be helpful if they’re home more often than not as I really don’t love being alone. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can play with toys, go for walks, maybe play in a yard and eat yummy treats!
**Extra info from Sky’s foster family: Sky is one sweet, devoted boy who loves his people fiercely. Once he bonds with you, he's all in, this is a dog who wants to be by your side. He's house-trained and always up for a walk or a good play session, so he'll keep you moving. He's got a mischievous streak too (classic Shiba), so expect him to keep you on your toes and laughing. If you're looking for a loyal companion who'll make you his whole world, Sky might be the one.
IMPORTANT: IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR an MSIR DOG, ALL APPLICANTS MUST:
Be willing to travel with all family members to the foster home to meet/adopt the dog(s).
Send an email to adoptions@shibarescue.org with 1) Proof of current vet records for all pets in the home, including preventatives, and 2) A brief explanation telling MSIR why you would be a great fit for the dog.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
