Hello! I’m Giyu, an incredibly dashing 2.5-year-old, 23-27-pound male Shiba with the sweetest soul that can be clearly seen through my warm, loving and soulful eyes!
I’m good with strangers once I get to know them, and I am very smart. Not only do I know the “sit” command but I’m crate, potty, and leash-trained. I admit however, my foster family and I are working on my leash manners...luckily, I get to go for 3-4 walks a day, so I get lots of practice! I don’t know how I’d do with cats, but I know I’m not crazy about the male dog with whom I live...who knows, maybe I’d prefer the ladies! As for kids, I live with some younger kids who can be a bit loud and too unpredictable for me, so I’d prefer a family with teens or just adults.
It took a bit for me to warm up to my foster home and family, but I’ve come a long way since being here. I’ve even learned that some of my favorite pastimes include getting lots of pets, loves and attention from my people; spending time alone with my thoughts; running zoomies; playing with plushy toys (the squeaky ones terrify me LOL); eating freeze dried beef liver; jumping in leaf piles; seeking out my family throughout the day to ensure they’re doing well; and protecting my family and home against all the squirrels and other wildlife who may pass by the window!
I truly am an angel with a heart overflowing with love that I’m yearning to share with YOU, a Shiba-savvy furever family with strong leadership. All I ask is that you love me unconditionally, NEVER give up on me, take me on lots of leisurely walks and give me the space and time I need to feel comfortable and safe in my new home. If you’ll be my new family, I promise I will give you my entire heart and show you a love you never thought possible! Love, Giyu

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shiba Inus should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
