Hi there! My name is Snowstorm. I weigh a little over 30 pounds and am 4-years-old.
I am looking for a home where I can be a solo pet. I need a fenced-in yard where I can play fetch and where my family can enjoy doing my training with me. I don’t like being with other dogs or cats but I am able to entertain myself just fine. I am an active dog who needs lots of stimulation - so I need a family who is active and willing to help me on my training journey!
I’m a people pleaser and really enjoy their company! I enjoy being a bit lazy and cuddling with the humans when they’re not tossing my ball to me. I do well when the humans have to leave during the day and just hang out in a room by myself.
My strength, high prey drive and ability to get easily distracted make it a little difficult for me to go on enjoyable walks. But, with consistent training, patience and lots of love, I know I’ll be able to improve on this.

IMPORTANT: IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR an MSIR DOG, ALL APPLICANTS MUST:
Be willing to travel with all family members to the foster home to meet/adopt the dog(s).
Send an email to adoptions@shibarescue.org with 1) Proof of current vet records for all pets in the home, including preventatives, and 2) A brief explanation telling MSIR why you would be a great fit for the dog.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
