Our Mission

Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (MSIR) is a non-profit, all-volunteer corporation.

MSIR seeks out, fosters, and places homeless Shiba Inu dogs into carefully screened, lifelong, and nurturing homes. In addition to rescue, MSIR volunteers provide medical care and/or rehabilitation for foster dogs and then attempt to match them with appropriate, permanent homes.

MSIR also educates the public about the Shiba Inu breed, the need for dog rescue and dog training, and the importance of spaying/neutering pets to prevent overpopulation.

One of MSIR's goals is to acquire funding to support operations.

Foster Home Coordination

Our Foster Home Coordinator is your main point of contact and will guide you through the fostering requirements and application process. If you end up fostering one of our dogs, you will be paired with a dedicated Foster Concierge who will support you throughout the foster experience—answering questions about daily care, fostering procedures, and coordinating veterinary care every step of the way. Interested in fostering? Please complete our Foster Home Application.

Adoption Coordinator

The Adoption Coordinator can answer questions from potential adopters about the adoption process and helps to match current foster dogs with potential adopters.  Also an important contact for foster homes as they will assist with the write-up for foster dogs, setting up home visits, and when the time comes to adopt out a foster dog, filling out the adoption contract and preparing the new adoptive family so they have everything the dog will need at the time of adoption. MSIR's adoption coordinator can be reached at adoptions@shibarescue.org

Intake Coordinator

The Intake Coordinator handles the intake process for all dogs coming from commercial breeders, other rescue groups, owner surrenders and animal control/shelters.  If you find a dog in need please contact intake@shibarescue.org

Transport Coordinator

The Transport Coordinator, and the main point of contact that helps in transporting MSIR foster dogs. They will contact you about dog drop off and pickup logistics, as well as planning all transports including working with other rescues and Pilots N Paws. MSIR's Transport Coordinator can be reached at transport@shibarescue.org
