My name is Kendra and I’m about 4-years old and weigh 25 lbs. I’m looking for my forever home and would fit in well with many types of families. I get along with other dogs, cats and even children! I could live in a house or a condo/apartment. I am a good leash walker and don’t need a fenced yard.

I am a bit of a nervous girl but am coming out of my shell. I live with a cat and love to run around with it. I don’t like when it comes by my food, although, I don’t mind when humans do. Even though I’m nervous around people, my love of being pet often wins out and convinces me to hang out by them!

I really enjoy spending time in my crate. It’s my favorite place to relax. I often go back in myself after coming out to get pets from my humans. I think I would enjoy living with another dog! It might help me feel more comfortable around people.

I would love to live with someone who is ready to go on walks with me around town and then lounge around and relax at home after. I hope to meet my future family soon! Until I do, I’ll be hanging out in my cozy crate dreaming of my new life.

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Kendra, please email her personal secretary, Ali, at Ali@shibarescue.org and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience! If you’d like to speed up the process, please fill out and submit an application. To speed things up even more, send Ali your pet’s most recent vet records.

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
