Hello! My name is Blossom and as you can see by my picture I’m trying to live up to my name. I’ve planted myself in this planter and am just waiting to bloom . I am 2-years old and weigh about 20 lbs.

My favorite place to be is outside in my fenced in yard! My future home needs a fenced yard because I’m not the best at walking on a leash yet. Up until now I lived outside so it’s all I know. I am not as comfortable inside the house yet but I am learning it’s okay.

I’m a little afraid of humans at first. My foster family is slowing pushing me out of my comfort zone and I’m starting to be okay with some cuddles on the couch! I would do best with another dog in the house to teach me I don’t need to be afraid. If I am scared I will shake for about 30 minutes but then I calm down. I calm down faster with another dog around.

I am really enjoying playing with toys! I actually prefer them to treats. My ideal family would give me a big bucket of toys, a sibling to play with outside and a fenced in yard to run around multiple times a day! I don’t think I’m asking for too much! I hope I find my forever family soon.

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Blossom, please email her personal secretary, Ali, at Ali@shibarescue.org and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience! If you’d like to speed up the process, please fill out and submit an application. To speed things up even more, send Ali your pet’s most recent vet records.

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
