Hi there! My name is Archie. I am about 6-years old. Some really nice people saved me from a puppy mill where I had spent my life making puppies. It was a scary place and I’m so glad to be in a foster home with other nice dogs and friendly people!

I feel safest when I am around other dogs and really need a doggy sibling to help teach me how to live comfortably in a house. I love my crate but am slowly learning that dog beds and couches can be comfy and safe, too. I should be crated when left alone though otherwise I will chew on things I shouldn’t and might have an accident. I do know to paw at the patio door though when I need to go outside!

I need a home with a secure, fenced-in yard. I’m not quite confident enough to strut around town on a leash just yet, so the fenced yard is needed while I’m learning all about leash manners.

I need some patient humans to live with as I’m still pretty scared of people. I will allow people to pet me although I don’t seek it out myself just yet. Since I am a bit skittish, I would do best in a home without younger children. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can relax, observe the world and continue to learn that people do care about me!

Currently being fostered near Omaha, NE

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Archie, please email his personal secretary, Ali, at Ali@shibarescue.org and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience! If you’d like to speed up the process, please fill out and submit an application. To speed things up even more, send Ali your pet’s most recent vet records.

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
