Hello, my name is Brooklyn-Katniss! I’m a playful, energetic, and outgoing yet quiet 1-year-old, 17-pound Shiba who enjoys saying hello to everyone I see, especially when it includes pets even from kids and strangers.
It must be said that I’ve come a long way since being with my foster family. I was pretty shy and skittish of noises when I first got here and I admit that I didn’t know how to read the resident dog’s signals…yes, it’s true, I’d keep engaging when my foster sibling said “no,” but no worries, I quickly learned that I am now in a safe and VERY loving home which has made me much more confident. Now I understand that friendship with my foster sib is a 2-way street and noises don’t always mean the end of the world…even those crazy loud bangs we heard on July 4th!
Anyway, I have limited experience with those meowy, whack-ya-in-the-face things but I’m now good with other dogs and would love to have a doggy companion at my new home. My favorite pastimes include going on leashed walks, playing with my toys and bones although mom had to stop giving me bones because I’d pile them up and lay on them! I mean really, who needs a Sleep Number when you’ve got bones, am I right!?! All that said, there’s one thing I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, more than anything in the world and that’s being in the same room with my people and cuddling!!! In fact, when I’m not playing with my toys, I’m cuddled up with foster mom or day or asking for pets!
Oh yeah… I can’t believe I almost forgot to tell you how smart I am…no, it’s true, I know commands like “sit”, “shake”, and “down” …I mean seriously, how brilliant am I!?! I’m also crate-trained although I may fuss a bit when first put in there. As for potty-training, I’m still a puppy so it’s a work in progress but I’m almost there.
Anyway, I’m an incredibly sweet girl who would love nothing more than to find a furever family who will not only love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me, but who will also do lots of things with me like training sessions that will help me reach my full potential. I assure you, that if YOU will be my furever family, I will love you more than all the stars in the galaxy! Love, Brooklyn
Currently is being fostered near Minneapolis, MN

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about. Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you. You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process. The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.
NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
