_____________________________________________________________________________

My name is Vicky and I am a petite 4 year old shiba weighing about 16 pounds. I am an easy going dog and would do great with a person who loves going for walks in their neighborhood.

I get very excited when I see foster mom grab my leash to go on a walk! Once outside I grab the leash with my mouth and pull her along to show how happy I am! Once we start walking I drop the leash and let foster mom take over with that job. I have too many smells to sniff and squirrels to try and chase anyway!

I coexist fine with other dogs. I can hang out with them, play, share a water bowl, but I don’t like when they come by my food. I just bark at them to let them know it’s mine and then we both continue on with our day - I am not aggressive about it.

I don’t get into anything when I am left alone. I can be trusted to free roam. I enjoy hanging out on the couch - it’s so comfy to nap on!

I have had some skin issues and might have lingering allergies that the vet is talking to my foster mom about, but no other health issues. I hope to meet my future family real soon!

  • Currently is being fostered near Chicagoland

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Vicky, please follow the instructions above, starting with emailing her personal secretary at adoptions@shibarescue.org with any applicable vet records for you current pets, and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
