My name is Reeses. I am 8 years old and weigh about 27 pounds!
I am a resilient dog who is learning to trust and love humans. I would love to have a forever home that is on the quieter side with humans who help foster a calm and consistent routine for me.
I love meal time and I love getting to go outside in a fenced yard! I like to romp around and sniff all the good smells outside. I am learning to walk on a leash and I think I would enjoy long walks once I get better at the whole leash thing.
Inside the house I am quiet and enjoy spending time in my favorite cozy spot. I am observant and like to watch everything that goes on around me. I am working on going up to my foster humans and taking treats from them. I had to have a lot of teeth removed so soft foods are my favorites. I let my humans pick me up and pet me but am a bit weary of younger kids.
I would do best with another dog in the house! They help me feel safe and it would be fun to have adventures outside with another dog. I can’t wait to find my forever family!
Currently is being fostered near Wausau, WI
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Reeses, please follow the instructions above, starting with emailing his personal secretary at adoptions@shibarescue.org with any applicable vet records for you current pets, and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about. Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you. You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process. The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.
NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
