_____________________________________________________________________________
Hi there! My name is Carmy and I’m a 6 year old, 20 pound female Shiba.
I’m a sweet girl who always gives my foster mom smiles and kisses when I see her. I love to be the center of attention especially out on walks when I get to meet new people. I’d love to be a solo dog at home where I can be spoiled but I could also do well living with a male dog. My foster dog brother and I love to hunt for critters in the yard together.
Some other things I enjoy are going on walks and car rides. I love my crate and it was my safe space at first. Now I’m getting braver though and do fine left out of it when I need to be alone and for sleeping. I’m still fine-tuning my potty-training, but aside from that I don’t make a mess!
I am learning about all the good things in life…cuddling on the couch, playing chase with my dog siblings, and meeting new people. Maybe the next person I meet will be YOU - my new family!
Currently is being fostered near Aurora, IL
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Carmy, please follow the instructions above, starting with emailing her personal secretary at adoptions@shibarescue.org with any applicable vet records for you current pets, and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about. Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you. You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process. The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.
NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
