Yoshi is fostered in Kalamazoo, MI.

Yoshi is a 13 year old Shiba Inu. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm and flea & tick preventative. He is reliably potty trained. He prefers to be left out of a crate and after 13 years, he has earned that privilege. He is a good boy outside of his crate. He gets along with other dogs and cats, too. He would prefer a home without small children since he’s in his golden years and prefers calm.

Yoshi appears to be deaf (even beyond the Shiba selective hearing!). That doesn’t bother him a bit. But, don’t think you’re going to get a meal or snack in without him noticing! Although he can’t hear the crinkle of the bag or pop of a container opening, his sense of smell and sight is in tip top shape! He strongly believes in sharing good food!

Yoshi would love a place with a nice comfy bed he can curl up in and take lots of naps. In between, he really likes exploring the yard and he also enjoys a nice walk. When he wants attention, in true Shiba form, he will let you know. He will come up and give gentle kisses.

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
