Double trouble! This is Chewy and Pearl. They are 9 year old shiba inus (brother and sister even) that were given up by an owner who didn't have time for them. This pair is by far, two of the best dogs EVER. They are super friendly, cuddly, and love to let you share your bed with them. They just had their teeth cleaned and are looking good!

Both dogs are potty trained and haven't had any accidents since they've been here. They both will go to the back door when they need to go outside. Both dogs walk decent on leashes as well. They're a bonded pair, since they lived their whole lives together so they usually stay close to one another. It's fun trying to squeeze into bed between the two of them! Both of these pups are pretty quiet as well, although Pearl will bark at new people for a bit until she knows they're not going to cause any issues. Also, a bit of caution is needed when you leave because these guys want to follow you wherever you go which includes Pearl working hard to sneak out the door with you... a typical shiba trait.

We have three resident shibas in our home and two cats and these guys get along with everybody. They both are also good with children although Pearl isn't too fond about being handled when she doesn't want to be so a small child that doesn't know better is probably not the best to have around her. Chewy though, he's just happy to be there no matter the circumstance. Both dogs also seem to enjoy riding in the car and are good road trip buddies.

These are fantastic dogs and wonderful friends... anyone who wants to open their home to them is going to be extremely lucky to have such good cuddle buddies. If you are interested in adopting these two, please email their foster dad at after being approved by MSIR. Thanks!

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
