Rescue Shibas Need YOUR Help!

Foster a Shiba

Every dog that we take in needs a foster home to give it loving care while it is waiting to go to its new home.  Foster homes are the cornerstone of our organization and are what we most desperately need.  All you need to be a foster home is an appropriate place to keep a dog, time to spend with your foster dog, and a heart big enough to love a dog that is facing a big transition.  Many of our foster dogs need training and extra care, but in addition to knowing that you are helping to save a dog, you will be repaid in the love of a Shiba.

A lot of people think they couldn't foster because they would grow too attached to the Shiba before placement. But remember, if people who love Shibas won't foster other Shibas in need, who will??

The first step in becoming a foster home is to contact us. One of our volunteers will contact you to discuss the fostering process. 

Volunteering for MSIR

We can use volunteers to do all sorts of jobs, from making a few phone calls to coordinating an entire fundraising event!  We need volunteers for writing articles for our newsletter, helping with special events we attend, working with vets to make sure we get the best care at the best prices, or even coordinating our volunteer program!  Your efforts can be as minimal or extensive as you want.  We'd love your help, whatever you can give and whatever you can do.

The first step to volunteering is to contact us or just fill out a Volunteer Form.  Tell us in the space on the bottom of the membership application what you think you'd like to do. 

Donations

MSIR is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.  What this means is that all the money we receive is used to help dogs and support our organization's costs (for printing, buying supplies, and funding our website, etc).  Your donation will be appreciated and is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

or, you can use your credit card and make a donation online via our secure e-commerce application.

You can also help us by donating goods or services.  We almost always need dog crates and mats, collars and leashes, dog toys, and any other dog-related items.  We could also use printing services, veterinary and boarding services, pagers, and items we can sell in our annual auction.  Contact our Treasurer to arrange for us to pick up your items and give you a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution.

No matter how much or how little you have to give, your help will be greatly appreciated by the Shibas that benefit from it!
