Jessie is a sweet, shy 7 year old girl from a puppy mill. She weighs about 25lbs and is a black and tan Shiba with a mostly tan face and head. The tips of her ears are missing, possibly due to frostbite or fly bites from the puppy mill. I still think she is adorable though! Jessie has had a full blood work done and no issues were found.

Jessie is house trained and does not chew on anything she isn't supposed to. Due to this, I have not attempted to crate her, although I believe she would do fine in one. Jessie gets along well with all other dogs and mostly ignores the cats. She loves to run around the back yard but still doesn't know what to do with toys. She does love her rawhides though!

Jessie will need a patient, quiet home. She does not walk very well on a leash yet, but with patience she will learn. She loves to be scratched on her head and neck, but is nervous about being approached. She does show a lot of curiousity towards people though, and will come up and nudge your hands once she is comfortable with you. Due to Jessie's shyness, a home without children is essential. She needs a quiet environment to come out of her shell. She would love to have a canine companion though.

The adoption fee for Jessie is $200. All potential adopters must have an application and home visit on file.
NOTE: DUE TO THE BREED'S INDEPENDENT NATURE, SHIBAS SHOULD ALWAYS BE LEASHED WHENEVER THEY ARE OUTSIDE OF A SECURELY FENCED AREA. IN ADDITION, MANY SHIBAS ARE DOOR BOLTERS AND CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN AROUND DOORS AND OTHER ESCAPE POINTS.
  • Upon completion of each positive motivation-based obedience class, MSIR will rebate the new adopters $25.
  • And, upon earning a Good Canine Citizen certificate, MSIR will rebate another $25!

Any one interested in adopting Jessie must first complete an adoption application and indicate, in the comments section, their interest in Jessie.
The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site. Once the adoption application is received,  Sara will contact you.
