Do you love long walks outdoors and cuddling in the evening? If so, then Emma is your soul-mate.
She walks well on leash and is enthralled with checking out her neighborhood. If a walk is not possible, she is just as happy to run around her fenced run, playing Shiba tag with you. Due to her size and speed, she needs supervision as she could quickly squeeze through small or narrow places. Like most Shibas, she has the potential to be a door bolter and will require very close attention when in possible escape situations.
Emma’s favorite in-door pastime is cuddling. This petite little girl begs to be in your lap for long period of “loving”. She will cry if she is not in the same room. Emma is eager to please and responds well to “Come”. However, like most Shibas, she decides when to “Sit” or “Stay”,
Due to her hard life, both as a part of commercial breeder's organization and her time as a stray, Emma requires a very calm, secure, and structured “Forever Home”. Initially her first reaction to stressful or fearful situations is to growl and try to lash out. However, this behavior with humans is rapidly disappearing as she is becoming more comfortable and confident with them.
Unfortunately, this fear-based behavior has caused negative reactions from other dogs, both home and neutral environments. Emma will best flourish as the solo “owners” of her humans.
The adoption fee for Emma is $250 Please refer to the MSIR website for more information on the application and adoption process.
NOTE: DUE TO THE BREED'S INDEPENDENT NATURE, SHIBAS SHOULD ALWAYS BE LEASHED WHENEVER THEY ARE OUTSIDE OF A SECURELY FENCED AREA. IN ADDITION, MANY SHIBAS ARE DOOR BOLTERS AND CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN AROUND DOORS AND OTHER ESCAPE POINTS.
