Koji is a Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue dog fostered in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Hi – my name is Koji! I have been searching all of my life for my forever family – is it you? I am told I am a very good boy and haven’t had any potty accidents in the house. I’ve been on real good behavior at my foster home and have not chewed on anything. I also love other dogs! Dog friends are so fun to play with! I’m not sure about cats since I have not met any, but I do bark at the outdoor cats in the neighborhood.
My ideal home will have a secure fenced in yard since I love to run around and play outside – that is when I am most happy and confident. I would also love to have a dog brother or sister who will play with me and keep me company. I love going for walks but need more practice walking nicely on a leash. I think I do perfect but foster mom says I zig zag too much. I like older children who are respectful towards me but real tiny children may make me nervous so a home with children 10 or older would be best.
Foster dad also says I’m a good alarm clock since I always wake him up in the morning when it’s time to go outside to potty and play. I like my foster dad to take me outside and tell him this by jumping on his chest and barking until he gets up! Speaking of - do you have a big bed? Because I love to lay in bed or on the couch so that I can snuggle up with my family!
Koji is a very loving and sweet young dog. He can be on the timid side and has some mild anxiety, but he is becoming more confident by the day. He needs a family that will continue to work with confidence building and training. Koji can be snuggly and while he wants to be with his humans most of the time, he does require play time, especially outside. He has not shown much interest in toys but is curious about them. His foster family has seen him play with toys on occasion so it will be important to make sure he has them available. Koji knows “sit” “stay” and “lay down” and is continuing training on basic commands while in foster care. For more information on Koji, please contact his foster family at email@example.com.
AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about. Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you. You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process. The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.
NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
