Bruce Wayne is a Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue dog fostered in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Meet Bruce Wayne! He is a 1.5 year old Black and Tan with lots of personality. Bruce was a breeder release do to a congenital defect with his front left paw. He has a full front leg and a partial paw. This doesn't cause him any mobility issues (he is still a slippery-quick shiba) and is not a long term health concern. He does need to maintain a lower weight than what is normal for Shibas in order to keep the amount of weight on his front right leg to a minimum.
Bruce has a lot of energy, however he does know how to relax. His favorite spot to relax is curled up on your feet or draped across the back of the couch. He loves toys, especially rubber balls that will bounce and bones. He has no interest in games like fetch, however will chase the ball and then proceed to toss it in the air to himself.
When introduced to new dogs, he will bark and some training will be needed in that regard. He's been friendly with his resident Shiba brother and other new males. He has shown some aggression towards his resident corgi sister and new females. Bruce would benefit from a having a playmate, however it is a must that they meet before and likely will not work well with a female. Bruce will often engage in play behavior once he gets used to new males.
A fenced in yard is also a must as he is a flight risk and does not have the best leash manners (he pulls and will slip out of a harness). With a little bit of training, he will be able to go for walks with no issue. Bruce has not been introduced to cats, however he has a strong prey drive and will likely chase. He has shown no issue with small children.
Bruce does need work on crate training. He will do his shiba scream and bite at a crate, so wire crating is a must. After a small tantrum, he will calm down once you have left. At his foster home, he's been left loose in the gated off mudroom area and had no issue.
Bruce Wayne is very cuddly and likes to sleep in bed with his humans. He'll settle down on your lap or feet while you are watching tv and follows his foster dad around constantly. He has a great markings and is a unique looking little guy. He is more than typical when it comes to Shiba behavior so experienced dog owner(s) is preferred.
